NSA Spies on Even More Of World+Dog (and hackers & mental health, psychopaths, paranoia, Berlin)

A while ago I observed that Snowden’s leaks were something like what you’d expect from a shotgun on PCP breeding with Chinese water torture. Drip by drip, they’ll strike absolutely everybody, until everyone realizes that Yes, This Is Your Problem Too.

The routine continues with Israel, German embassies abroad, a number of apparently harmless aid groups, foreign businesses (like two of France’s largest companies — quid pro quo for their economic espionage?) and, get this… the member of the European Commission responsible for overseeing antitrust issues, and therefore the guy that’s been fining US companies like Microsoft and Intel left and right.

Hackers and mental health: The following sentence in a Wikileaks press release on the “Icelandic FBI mole” stuck out at me today:
“We will not identify him by name in light of information that he has recently received institutional medical treatment.”[1]

What is it about hackers, particularly the organized variety, and mental health? I was discussing a sketchy fellow with a European hacker years ago, and this guy too said, “oh, sketchy dude spent a week in [local hospital], he’s OK.”

Normally I associate otherwise sane people getting sent to psychiatric care with “somebody found out a little too much and got a little too inconvenient” on the international covert-power-politics playing field. Anti-psychotic drugs, by design meant to expose firmware-level access to the mind, enable all sorts of mental jiggery-fuckery, making them excellent for “fitting someone with a leash.” But there are enough data points here to be vaguely but deeply disturbing.

I will probably cover the related posts in more detail, but here’s a question that ought to get you thinking. Can LSD contribute to psychopathy? I could make a reasonable case that’s what the CIA hoped it would do to Frank Olson. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6942363

For those of you still living in the US: “32 Privacy Destroying Technologies That Are Systematically Transforming America Into A Giant Prison” is a very accurate title. http://thetruthwins.com/archives/32-privacy-destroying-technologies-that-are-systematically-transforming-america-into-a-giant-prison
